Labor Day Weekend

September 1st, 2008

We had a long weekend with Sofia, out and about doing many different things.  On Saturday, we went to the mall in the morning because it was running and did some shopping.  The mall is becoming one of Sofia’s favorite places, my checking account is fearful.  On Saturday night, mommy and daddy went out for our 11th anniversary for some maternity clothes shopping, dinner at jaleo and then some smores at Cosi with people watching.  On Sunday, we went to Glen Echo park and rode the carousel and went out for ice cream.  On labor day, we went to the labor day parade in Kensington, had lunch in bethesda and then walked around – doing some more shopping.  That’s it, no more shopping!  Anyway, here are a few pictures from this weekend.

Here’s a playlist of some video shorts of Sofia playing in the sand and surf at Bethany Beach, DE.  Thanks to Donna Leonard for the video footage.

Sofia dancing around the house

August 2nd, 2008

No pictures!

May 4th, 2008

Sofia has entered a self conscious phase where she no longer likes to be photographed. She does lots of really funny things, from dance recitals to shakey parties to chasing the cats around the house, but the second you pull out a camera she has a fit. Here is an example.

No Pictures, please!

It’s a shame. I was excited that Lilly Pulitzer came back to CostCo this year and I picked up a few dresses. Today was a beautiful spring day, weather in the 70s, no humidity. We went over to the Azalea Festival at Landon. We had fun even though Sofia wouldn’t let me take many pictures of her in her cute outfit and she refused to go on any of the carnival rides, except the train (of course). Here she is dancing around with some animal balloons to Ms. Belle. Sofia was surprised to see Ms. Belle at the festival, she like to go see her play with the Java Mammas at a variety of coffee houses in the area.

Sofia’s First Terps Game

September 2nd, 2006

This evening, we dressed Sofia in her Maryland Cheerleader outfit and took to her first Terp football game. She did a little tailgaiting, some people watching, danced to the marching band and finally, after a few minutes, she setttled into cheering for the home team. She also got to eat some chicken fingers, fries and a hot pretzel in addition to her usual cheerios and sweet potato mush. By halftime, she was wiped. No worries, it was 24-7 and the Terps should have this one in the bag against William and Mary.

Beach Vacation No. 2: Rehoboth

August 27th, 2006

Well, it has been a while since we last gave an update. Sofia is now 14 months old and running around like a maniac, or at least a drunken sailor. She had her second beach vacation, this time at Rehoboth Beach. She actually got down in the sand this time – and loved it! They can’t get her out of the sand at daycare – Feli has to shake her out every night and give her a bath right when she gets home. She also met some new friends at the beach and is already pushing the boys around. Sofia had some ice cream for the first time, and second, and third…

1 Year Old – Watch Out!

June 17th, 2006

Sofia is a year old – can you believe it! Feli and I are in awe. It wasn’t too long ago that Sofia was getting up every three hours and sitting quietly in her bouncy seat. Now, she is crawling all over the place, chasing Hornsby around, standing up and trying to walk (with limited success right now). She has also made big progress on the growth front. She has moved up to the 10th percentile for weight, weighing in at a whopping 18 pounds 2 ounces. She is standing tall at 27 5/8 inches (35% – must be from me, not feli!). As the winter season has come and gone, most of her daycare diseases have come and gone, although she shares my poor Eustachian tube genetics. As a result, she is having tubes put in her ears later next month. That should clear everything up!

Sofia's First Birthday

9 Months old

March 17th, 2006

Now we have reached our 9 month milestone, although we haven’t made a lot of progress on weight and she is shrinking. The winter has been hard on Sofia, with a rash of day care illnesses including rotovirus, a couple of colds, a sinus infection, dueling earaches and now – cocksackie – whatever that is. We even had a fun trip to the ER (numero dos) to get some fluids due to excessive dehydration from the rotovirus. As a result, Sofia is still a whopping 3% weight and now 30% height. Oh well, guess she takes after her mom. However, she is making huge strides in other areas. She says “dadda” and waves hello to me when I get home. She is eating all kinds of food including bananas, avocados and all of those made up baby foods (spinach lasagna and prunes and rice – who made that marketing decision!). She is also crawling backwards and starting to pull herself to standing up.
